I showed up. On time for my one day rental. They told me they had no cars but they would try to get me in a car some time today. No definite time, no alternatives. I waited an hour. Others had already waited two. I couldn't wait any more or I was going to miss my meetings. Had to cancel. Spent more than the rental amount on cabs getting there and back and was late for everything. One woman was helpful with a refund, but beyond that about as bad a service as you could possibly imagine.

Hertz had a very very old car. 64K miles on the car. Feels like I rented a someone else's old car that they borrowed me for a day. Not a good experience at all. Thumbs down

No cars available at scheduled pick up time at Newark, NJ airport. Line of angry customers waiting angry because there was no communication from the agents when a car would be available, agent had no idea who had gotten there first or if there was even enough cars for everyone. Once I finally got my car the line to check out of the gate was 20 cars long and no attendant in sight. Waited 30 minutes to get out of the lot. When returning the car at BWI airport I requested a receipt from the agent and he refused, he said he would email the receipt but never did and I still have not received it.

Be carful to accept upgrade, front desk will pass you with large amounts without clear knowledge of you. Then when you realised that you pay 3 times what you supposed to pay they will respond to you: you have Signed.. disappointed, but it is your faults not read before pick pen!

Newark International Airport is no sparkling new facility. The rental car locations require using the airport train system, and signage to find it isn't all that visible. The Hertz location there pretty much matches the whole airport itself, but considering we booked last-minute, arrived late, and very late at night, the counter agent was pleasant and helpful, making our experience as good as it could be. 👍

I was pleasantly surprised at Sixt. I had not heard of them before and I had previous challenges with other discount rentals. This rental was pre-booked and well-organized to receive the car once I arrived. The car was clean and drove beautifully. Finding the return lot was a bit more challenging. More signs would be helpful, but I did find it on my first drive around. Overall a pleasant experience. FYI: It's quite a distance to get to the new Terminal A at Newark. Expect at least a 15-20 minute walk/shuttle after returning the car.

(1) When I inquired whether I could upgrade to a hybrid, neither staff member knew what a hybrid car was. (2) Didn't offer a form for me to note pre-existing damages, and said one wasn't available when I inquired. (3) After I returned the car, they claimed that there's new damage when there's not.

2+ hour wait in line to pick up at Newark, one employee behind the desk. Facility is a triple-wide trailer and it’s pretty grubby. No seating. I asked for a toll tag, but they charged me for the weekly unlimited tolls instead - cost me a fortune. I’m not using Budget again!

We reserved a minivan months in advance and paid in full when we made the reservation. This was to drive to Florida from NYC with our 3 kids. When we went to pick up they had no minivans, and tried to give us a Ford Explorer (too small for 5 of us with luggage and 24 hour drive). We said no to Ford Explorer and they offered Chevy Tahoe, but for $45 more per day a total of $400 more. We complained via email, and they offered a $50 credit on our next rental. Horrible. They didn’t have what we reserved and paid in full for months in advance, so they charged us 400 extra dollars to get a vehicle of comparable size.

My reservation was at 6am- I didn’t walk out with a car until 7:55am. The staff lady was the rudest rep I’ve had in years. And I saw her be this way with multiple people. Was given electric car which I did not book. Then how am I supposed to find time to sit and charge it when I got it almost two hours late due to it needing to be charged. Worst rental experience

I returned the car and asked for a receipt and they said I couldn't get one. I told them I don't mind waiting, and they said I'd be emailed within 15mins. 3 hours later I get a call asking if I'm going to keep the car another day, and I let them know I returned it 3 hrs ago, and they told me I didn't. I described the two guys behind the counter, as well as the woman I was speaking with, and they had to double check and when they called me back said I was good. 4 days later I get an email telling me that I had damaged the vehicle, which I hadn't and which is why I wanted in invoice immediately. They had the car missing for 3 hrs+ and somehow didn't notice any damage for 4 days? Now, I have to deal with them. Horrible experience.
