Cheap Car Rentals in San Francisco

Very little. Virtually everything could have been better.

Got upgraded to BMW 430i, new and clean. Pickup and drop off were a breeze.

Nice staff in rental counter.

Super long line. Now that Avis is Budget (and vice versa) and their systems don’t speak (or something like that) beware your car could be double booked. After long wait for the car that’s what happened with us. Worked out in the end for us and other party but took time. Given the $ it’s not the wait and service level one should receive.

Nice vehicle. Didn't like the price,the upsale, , the lies,agent must get a commission for overselling to unsuspecting seniors..$294 for 1 day rental. That price should come with a driver.

Why hit a gas surcharge when the driver filled it up and videoed the gas gage, and then there is no way to contest the fuel surcharge of 9.99$ as it is an ereceipt. Just makes me feel like budget is untrustworthy as that charge is a scam as I filled it up past what it was supposed to be.

No cars available! Ruined my trip for the weekend.

I ordered my car for 8AM and when we shoes up at 9AM due to a delayed flight and getting stuck on the train we were told our car was not ready yet and it would be another hour and a half before we could get it. They had plenty of cars available but I “had to upgrade” to get it. The customer service agent threatened to call the police if I didn’t move over so he could upsell someone else. They tried the same exact thing on the person next to me. They offered me an electric car as an option which I refused and they told them they didn’t have any electric vehicles available and tried to upsell them into a more expensive vehicle they “did have”! A total rip-off. After I told the customer service rep that, lo and behold, I had a free upgrade and a vehicle within 5 minutes! Another thing was that they never mention to you that you can refuse their insurance. It was just which option do you want? Luckily I knew about my credit card perks and that my regular insurance covers rental cars and that my homeowners insurance covers my personal belongings. Most car insurance policies cover rental car damage just like your regular car, by the way! Check that before you pay for unnecessary coverage you already pay for.

Impossible to have the car I booked: 3 hours wait !!!

Despite reserving and partially paying ahead of time, the wait to see someone at the counter was 2 hours, as Dollar and Thrifty combined made for a very long line of people. I don't think it's right that person's with reservations have to wait in the same line with people who don't have any reservations.

They did not have any cars when we arrived - and had to wait nearly 2 hours in the rental car office until they had a vehicle available.

Make false charges

Rami was lightning fast when i returned the car and gave me directions to the terminal. Excellent job!

Waiting time to pick up the car was too long. Around 30 min.

The person at check in was extremely helpful.

We didn’t get the car that we pay for. The staff at San Francisco were very rude!

unfortunately I had no any feedback from Kayak on my message and only after communication directly to AVIS I could manage my drop-off location.

Lady didn’t smile the whole time; we had an electric car and had no idea how to manage that; we brought the car over 12 hours before the time was up but still paid full price

everything went well, no problems!

Very unprofessional business. They didn't have available cars when we arrived to pick up a car even though we booked it 2 weeks in advance. The representative told us they will call us when a car will be available but never did so.
