Getting around Muscat

Most of the main city centre sights can be explored on foot, and when the weather is temperate, this can be the most pleasant option. Otherwise, hop on a tour bus, flag a taxi, or hire yourself a car and away you go.

Getting from the Airport to the City

Flights to Muscat arrive at Muscat International Airport: the largest airport in Oman. It is about 20 miles away from Muscat proper, and so it is advisable to get an airport taxi, or to hire a car at the airport. There are ample opportunities to both hire a car for you to drive yourself and to hail a taxi cab at the airport. There are also various hotel shuttles taking travellers to their hotels from the airport so make sure to check if there is one going to your particular destination.
