Adelaide Airport (ADL) is the main airport in Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. You can travel to Adelaide Airport (ADL) from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) via Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) in 9-12h. If you are coming from Penang International Airport (PEN), you could stopover in Singapore (SIN) on the way there, which will take around 19h in total, and stop in Kuala Lumpur (KUL) on the way back, a journey of around 14h.
Unfortunately, direct flights from Malaysia to Adelaide, Australia, are not currently available, so you would have a stopover, usually in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. There are cheap Adelaide flight deals for direct flights in the opposite direction — from Adelaide to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) — so your return leg could only take 7h 45min.
To get from Adelaide Airport to the centre, you have various options. The JetBus services Glenelg, West Beach, and the city. You can purchase a metro card to use on the bus from vending machines at the airport bus stop. As you leave the Terminal, you’ll see the bus stop on the left-hand side. The trip takes 25min to the centre and the bus leaves every 30min. There is also an Airport City Shuttle that runs directly between the CBD and airport during business hours, seven days week, and costs about RM 32 one way. You can catch an Über by ordering it through the app and heading to the pickup area on the left-hand side of the short-term parking. You can also book a chauffeured driver through the airport website. A taxi to the CBD will cost between RM 47-79 and the taxi ranks are located just outside Arrivals.
Adelaide, Australia, is a city that has a lot to offer, and often at a more leisurely pace than the bigger cities Sydney and Melbourne. It is increasingly being considered to be Australia’s lifestyle capital. With a thriving arts scene, culture, nightlife and beaches, there is something to suit every taste in Adelaide. You can visit Rundle Mall, Australia’s first pedestrian-only street mall, which has been operating since 1976. If you prefer to shop for food, the Central Market has 80 stalls of fresh produce and is aptly called ‘Adelaide’s food hub’. If you love nature, you can take a stroll through the 51-hectare Adelaide Botanic Garden or visit Glenelg, Adelaide’s trendy seaside suburb, and sun yourself on the beach. Glenelg is also the home of the only operating tram line in Adelaide, the Glenelg Tram, which is a well-loved attraction. To view and experience some of Australia’s unique wildlife, such as emus, koalas, and kangaroos, you only need to head 15min out of town to Cleland Conservation Park. You can take a day or half-day tour to the world-renowned Barossa Valley, about an hour outside of Adelaide, and sample some top wines while seeing the countryside.
If you are a Malaysian citizen, you can get an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) online, which allows you a 90-day stay for tourism in Australia. Your passport needs to be valid for at least six months after your date of arrival in Australia.
